Ha, ha, I have discovered the basis for the phrase "afraid of his own shadow". Two days ago, Joshua noticed the play of shadows and light across the wall of my mom's apartment - she has more shadow play than MIL's - and he is both fascinated and terrified by this new development - seems to think that they are real, have substance and should be able to be touched and manipulated. And when he sees my shadow as well me leave the room he panics, tears after me and afixes himself to my leg. In addition to the regular clinginess I have come to expect and tolerate, this new thing is a total joy.
He's such a doll.
He also repeats everything I say, although isn't really moving into sentences or phrases independent of a word or two. Interesting that within a couple minutes of learning about shadows, he learned the word, which is "shabow".
Off to see a man about a resume...wish me some desperately called-for luck.
